1998-Present  Developed and maintain the UVA Weather Page: http://windfall.evsc.virginia.edu/~mcuser,  including Unix System Administration on the server running the Unidata Internet Data Delivery (IDD) real-time data stream. The dynamic directory contains  raw satellite imagery  from GOES East and West platforms, meteorological model initializations and forecasts from mesoscale to hemispheric, upper air data from 00 and 12UTC atmospheric soundings, hourly surface data and radar data, frontal positions, weather watches and warnings, and text based zone and national forecasts all from the National Center for Environmental Prediction.  I tend Local Data Manager (LDM) software, the maintenance and annual up-grade of the Man-Computer Interactive Data Analysis System (McIDAS), a meteorologically based data acquisition and display program., and  the Integrated Data Viewer (IDV), a platform independent state-of-the-art 3-dimensional visualization package(based on Vis5D) for analyzing gridded meteorological-model output.  Data gets “published” via my specifications as to the meteorological fields, temporal frequency, geographic projection, color scale, etc. of products made and posted to dynamic web links.  Many universities across the country support these activities (data acquisition and display, system administration, software upgrades, web page development and maintenance) as part of the program infrastructure.  I run this entire system for two reasons, 1) it has been critically important to my specific role as project meteorologist on active field missions (see funded research), and 2) it is generally important to my synoptic/dynamic research interests (see publications and presentations).
